坂原栄
Sakahara Sakae

父のもとで模様師の仕事を修業、また小笠原忠春氏に友禅を学ぶ。その後画家長浜信夫氏（父が横山大観の兄弟子）のもとでデザインを学ぶ。

桜の花を図柄にすると伝統的な「日本」をイメージします、そこに葉をつけると季節感が表現できます。
The cherry blossom designs make us think of 'traditional Japan'. Furthermore, a sense of season is delivered by adding leaves to the blossoms.

東京手描友禅 Tokyo tegaki yuzen (Tokyo hand-painted yuzen dyeing)

友禅染めは江戸時代に始まった着物の生地に絵柄模様を染める技法で、数多くの工程を経て完成します。昔から神田川沿いに多くの染師が住んでいました。
Yuzen dyeing technique was invented in the Edo period. It is a technique of dyeing fabric with painted pictorial images through multiple layers of processes. Historically many dyers lived and worked along the Kanda River in Tokyo.

作品の特徴 Special features

友禅染の全工程を行います。個性の際立つ作品を信条としています。配色のイメージは鳥の羽から学ぶところが多いです。製作にあたっては実際に着る人のイメージを大切に考えています。染色の工程にロウを使うのも特徴です。
I practice the entire process of yuzen-dyeing. It is my intention to create individualised works that are exceptional. The bird feathers often give me ideas and inspirations for colour scheme. I respect an image of wearer during the process of creation. My production method is unique in that I apply wax at the dyeing process.
